1878 Duty Fiscals
'Duty' stamps were used to show the charges collected for land transfers and other transactions where duties had to be paid.
The 1d Lilac was the first NZ Fiscal stamp, being Issued on 15th June, 1878. The 1d Blue was issued on 14th December 1878. Both had 12 x 11 1/2 perforations, printed on NZ and Star watermarked paper.
